"Brig in Bloom" was formed in 1998 after the Community Council advertised for a Bloom committee. Elected at that time as office bearers were, Chairman:- John Tulloch, Secretary:-Ranald Noel-Paton, George Smith as Treasurer and a committee of five.
The
boat situated at the bridge end of the village was an idea of John Tulloch,
after a lot of searching it was discovered that Gordon Christie had one
tied up at the Earnbank hotel and was talked into donating it. Bridge
of Earn hospital board gave permission for repairs and painting to be
carried out on the hospital grounds. After many talks with the council,
permission was granted to site the boat at this location and with the
help of three hardy coalmen and their lorry the boat was moved, painted
and finaly placed where it is today.
